Some friends and I caught the last 10 minutes of Monday night's season premiere of "Jon & Kate Plus Eight." These friends, a married couple with kids, have polar-opposite reactions to Jon and Kate Gosselin, who in those last few minutes were interviewed together on a love seat but couldn't have looked more uncomfortable.
My guy friend thinks Kate is a supreme b*tch and an attention wh*re. He thinks she's in this for the celebrity it brings her. When she started crying Monday night, he thought she was acting.
My female friend is far more sympathetic toward Kate and mentioned that Jon has (allegedly) had an affair. She hadn't heard that Kate is (allegedly) doing the same. (I don't know how a couple with eight children would have time to even contemplate screwing around, but who knows.)
Jon quit his job two years ago. Kate had been a stay-at-home mom but these days spends some of her time on the road doing public appearances.
My female friend thinks the Gosselins are providing for their family by doing the TLC show. One assumes it would pay decent money (she'd heard $75K an episode, but I don't know if that's true).
My guy friend thinks the Gosselins are sacrificing their children's privacy for the sake of money and celebrity. And clearly, he says, Jon isn't into it like Kate is.
