Indy 500 odds at Bodog.com have listed 2007 Indy winner Dario Franchitti at 6 to 1 betting odds to be the victor in this weekend's run at the Brickyard. Franchitti, who returned to the Indy Racing League this season after a brief stint in NASCAR, will start today's race from the third position on the front row.

Dario Franchitti did not take long to get back into the swing of things on the Indy circuit. The native of Edinburgh, Scotland is currently third in the league standings and just four points behind first place holder Tony Kanaan.

Franchitti took fourth place at the Streets of St. Petersburg to open the season and followed that up with a win at Long Beach. A crash at Kansas Speedway relegated him to an 18th place finish in the Road Runner Turbo Indy 300 on April 26th.

The 36 year old, who drives the No. 10 Target Honda for Chip Ganassi, is more than pleased to be back in the IRL and at Indianapolis in particular.

"This just feels like it fits...I love driving the car. I forgot how much I love drving IndyCars," Franchitti said. "The first lap here [at Indy] put a big smile on my face. This is as challenging a place as I've ever driven, but I'm loving it. The feeling of driving a fast lap here, you can't help but be energized by it."

Franchitti's feelings of excitement, however, have also been accompanied by the realization that winning at Indy is no easy task.

"Having a good month [here] is only half the battle," Franchitti said. "You've got to show up on race day with a fast car that puts you in a position to win the race. Then you've got to do everything right over the whole day to get it done, and you've got ot have some luck as well."

The 2007 IRL champion does have the luxury of a previous Indianapolis victory to use as a template; however, he has not let that effect his preparation for this year's race.

"It's a blank slate," Franchitti said. "You've done well here in the past, [but] it's not a guarantee of success this year. You've got to prove yourself again."

The 93rd running of the Indianapolis 500 is scheduled to get underway at 12:00pm ET today at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race will be broadcast live by ABC.
