Florida St. DB Myron Rolle gives NFL teams the Oxford blues

Jason Cole has an interesting look at Myron Rolle, the Florida St. safety with a ticket to play football on Sundays, but the brain to study to be a neurosurgeon at Oxford University for a year first.

Rolle, you may remember, won a Rhodes Sholarship last year on the same day Florida went on to route Maryland in College Park. He ended up geting a special exemption from the NCAA to take a chartered jet to make the test and game on time.



"When I was at Florida State, they played up how I was really smart, this brainiac-type of guy, and that was fine," said Rolle, who graduated from FSU in 2 ½ years as a pre-med student. "But it's like they would talk about how smart I am and then that was it. I'm thinking to myself, 'I don't want to just be great in that. I want to be known as a great football player, too.' "

Roll is projected as a first day pick in the 2010 NFL draft after coming out of high school as the No. 1-ranked player in the nation.
